Education:  Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology, Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD; Master of Clinical Social Work, University of St. Thomas/College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, MN

Background/Experience:  Todd is a licensed clinical social worker who has worked in the field of behavioral health since 1996. Before coming to the Human Service Agency, Todd worked at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in St. Paul, MN. During his work there as an emergency department clinical social worker, Todd completed crisis mental health assessments and worked with every aspect of the family system. Todd has also done disaster response work for the federal government working as a mental health clinician on a disaster medical assistance team. His work with this team has brought him to such locations as Boston, MA; Frederick, MD; and New Orleans, LA (for Hurricane Katrina). Todd has also worked extensively in residential treatment with adolescents and in the out-patient mental health setting.

Professional Interests/Specialties:  Todd's professional interests include working with individuals who are dealing with depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and issues related to grief and loss. Todd has a particular interest in working within the realm of crisis mental health and psychiatric triage. Although the primary focus of Todd's career has been spent working with adolescents and adults, he also enjoys working with children and their families. He has also been trained through the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to counsel individuals in the area of smoking cessation.

Affiliations/Activities:  Todd has been a member of Minnesota's Disaster Medical Assistance Team since 2005. Todd has also received certification from Mayo Clinic's Tobacco Treatment Specialist program and enjoys working with individuals who are interested in discontinuing their use of tobacco products. Finally, Todd is certified as a trainer and practitioner of Psychological First Aid.
