Employment Services
The Employment Services department finds and develops job opportunities for people. The benefits of employment are broad. People enjoy the rewards of employment and the pride and self-respect of being a productive member of the community. The employer can take advantage of financial incentives, training by job coaches and access to a capable labor force. The community benefits from additional tax payers.
We focus on several different areas:
-
Job Class Instruction addresses resume writing, completing job applications, how to find a job, keeping a job, and deductions from a paycheck.
-
Vocational Counseling and Individualized Vocational Planning focuses on vocational assessment, skill review, and appropriate vocational goals.
-
Job Shadowing allows a person to explore a job interest by following or shadowing an experienced worker.
-
Training Sites benefit a person by training, assessing, and receiving paid work in an area of interest for a specified number of weeks.
-
Trial Placement enables a person to work in a non-paid job for three days and receive job coaching, training and evaluation.
-
Job Development and Job Placement focus on appropriate goals and satisfactory employment. The employer benefits through reduced training costs as the person served is offered Job Coaching where staff train our consumers on the job. The coach gradually fades as the person becomes more adept at the job.
-
Targeting Jobs Tax Credit is a tax benefit offered to the employer.
-
On the Job Training benefits the employer through reduced training costs.
-
Follow Along Services provide on-going support to the person served and the employer. Frequent contacts are made to assure stability and satisfaction.
