It is the policy of the Human Service Agency to recruit and employ qualified persons for staff positions without discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, age or disability. This policy also applies to compensation, condition of employment, opportunities for advancement and termination of employees. Furthermore, these nondiscrimination policies apply to the intake and provision of services to clientele in all Human Service Agency programs.
The Human Service Agency facilities and any location where HSA business is conducted (including Agency vehicles) are to be considered alcohol and drug free workplaces. This means that HSA employees are prohibited from unlawfully manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, possessing or using non-prescribed controlled substances in the workplace. The consumption of alcoholic beverages by Agency employees in the workplace is also prohibited. These prohibitions extend to business entertaining.
The Human Service Agency Board of Directors has determined that a work environment free of tobacco is healthier and a more comfortable place for both workers and persons served by the Agency. All buildings owned or operated by the Agency and all vehicles owned or leased by the Agency are designated as tobacco-free areas. There is no smoking allowed next to the main building. Smoking is allowed in personal vehicles for employees and in a designated spot in the parking lot for visitors.
Signs will be posted at all entrances to buildings stating that the building is a tobacco-free area. "NO TOBACCO" labels will be displayed in vehicles.
